FISE show jumping licences: the riding authorisations
Published on 2026-06-11
To compete in show jumping in Italy you need a riding authorisation (the «licence») issued by FISE, which determines the categories you can enter. Here is the essential, according to the FISE regulation.
Licence and heights
The Brevetto licence for the Olympic disciplines allows you to compete in categories up to a maximum height of 115 cm; higher categories require the next grades (1st grade and 2nd grade) [1][2].
Progression
Moving up to a higher licence happens by completing the required sporting path and respecting the minimum timeframes set by the regulation [1].
In competition
In each class you compete within the height limits allowed by your licence. See how categories and heights work and the penalties.
Note: FISE regulations are updated periodically; check the current edition (Book VIII — Riding Authorisations) on the official site.
