Breeds
Oldenburg and Oldenburg-International (OS) in show jumping
Published on 2026-06-11
The Oldenburg is one of Germany's oldest studbooks, with a register dedicated specifically to show jumping. Here is an essential overview.
Origins
A warmblood from Lower Saxony, with origins in the 17th century; in 1861 studbook administration was centralised in Vechta, still the heart of the breeding programme today [1].
The OS (jumper) register
With the creation of the jumper register (2001) and the founding of Oldenburg-International (OS) in 2003, breeding focused on show jumping, with strong results: the studbook has ranked among the best in the WBFSH jumping standings [1][2].
